Brand Designer

Join 1504 as we build an in-house communications team at the intersection of global humanitarian aid and purpose-driven brands. This role is for a versatile designer with solid experience and a heart for service.

ROLE

  • Design

    Creating design systems across brands, keeping identities coherent as they scale

  • Production

    Managing the ongoing assets to sustain the ecosystem across digital and print

  • Art Direction

    Collaborating with specialists on illustration, motion, and experiential projects

RESPOnsibilities

Develop and maintain consistent brand systems

Graphic design across multiple formats and channels

Package assets for campaigns and ongoing communications 

Source and manage print production details

Collaborate with freelance specialists to integrate their work

Support communications strategy for internal and external audiences

FOCUS Areas

Projects may involve:

  • Brand systems for mission-driven organizations with a focus on humanitarian nutrition (collateral, templates, event materials, annual reports, media kits)

  • Consumer brand launch with packaging support, brand extensions, and campaign assets

  • Early-stage brand development for an emerging global health company

  • Internal culture and employee experience touchpoints

  • Occasional studio projects for 1504's brand and select clients

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional design experience (agency, in-house, or freelance)

  • Portfolio showing systems thinking and production volume

  • Strong layout and typography fundamentals

  • Comfortable working across multimedia workflows

  • Able to work independently as well as part of collaborative team effort

  • Experience working alongside writers, editors, and content producers

  • Willingness to grow into more strategic responsibilities

  • Full-time, based in Birmingham, Alabama (in-person)

  • Starting at $60,000/year, with flexibility based on experience

  • 40 hours/week
